One of the highlights of Gower Coast Adventures voyages is the opportunity to observe the fascinating marine wildlife of the Gower coast.

Recent Sightings include:

Birds

Razorbills & Guillemots - nesting on the steep cliffs of Worms Head.

Cormorants & Shags - often seen spreading their wings out to dry.

Gulls - many varieties seen along the coast.

Fulmars - gliding gracefully over the waves.

Kittiwakes - rearing their chicks on narrow cliff ledges.

Puffins - occasional glimpses of this unusual clown looking bird off the end of Worms Head.

Peregrine falcons - Britains fastest animal see hunting the coastline.

Shearwaters - gliding inches from the waters surface.

Terns - diving for sand eels.

Turnstones - looking for a meal amongst the rocks.

Skuas - seen at sea mobbing other sea birds of their fish.

Scoters - an all black duck that arrives late summer.

Gannets - an impressive sight as they dive from a height.

Hen Harrier - never seen one of these before a highight of the trip

 

Marine Mammals

Atlantic Grey Seals - these inquisitive mammals are seen basking in the sun on the rocks at low tide and in the water at high tide. 

There is a small colony on the north side of Worms Head.

Porpoise - occacionally seen on flat calm days.

Dolphins - seen further out in the Bristol channel and occasionally near Worms Head
